From the jazz band to our speakers - Nicole Bendaly '93, Dr. Leo Groarke - to celebrating our students' achievements this year and honouring our retiring staff members, take a look at the highlights from Saturday, June 15.
Dr. Groarke is the President and Vice-Chancellor of Trent University. Since joining Trent as President in 2014, Dr. Groarke has led an extraordinary transformation of the university, with increased enrollment, a budget surplus, and the launching of a number of major capital projects, including a new student centre and the expansion of Trent’s Durham Campus. With a passion for the outdoors, Dr. Groarke can be spotted many evenings kayaking right here on Lake Katchewanooka, running along the river, or bicycling through Lakefield.
Nicole Bendaly '93, the Chair of the Lakefield College School Board, shared her wish for our Grads, "that you carry the Lakefield joy with you because you can access it any time you want. And, my wish is that you find meaning and passion in the work that you do, and that you create joy for yourself and those around you every day."
From the traditional grad jumps into Lake Katchewanooka after their final exams, the Grad vs Staff slo-pitch game, to the awards under the tent, the all-school photo at the waterfront, to the Closing Chapel service that was filled with joy and tears, Closing Week was full of emotion.
