• Alpine Skiing

  In the Late Fall Term, all three racing teams participate in dry land conditioning programs until the Christmas Break. In the new year, the team attends a pre-season training camp to ensure safe racing skills, team development, and skill based teams for their five CISAA races, the goal to compete for a CISAA Championship and OFSAA qualification.

• Basketball

  Lakefield College School has two girls’ basketball teams (1st and Jr.) that compete during the fall term. The two boys' teams (1st and Jr.) play in the winter term. All teams play in the CISAA league, hosting their home games in the McEwen Gymnasium. The teams practice 3-4 times a week. Invitational and League tournaments are also part of the season for the basketball program. The 1st Girls Basketball team is the 2023/24 CISAA Champion.

• Field Hockey

  Fitness, co-operation and courage are required from all participants in field hockey; individual and team skills are developed from basic to advanced level. Three teams (1st, 2nd and Junior) play in the CISAA as well as play in exhibition games against local teams. The 1st Girls' Field Hockey team is the 2014 Champion and Gold Medalist.  

• Flag Football

  This physically demanding sport is played during fall term. There is a 1st Boys’ and 1st Girls’ team. Both teams compete in the 7-7 league in the CISAA at home and away games. 

• Hockey

  There are three competitive hockey teams at the school: a 1st Boys' team, 2nd Boys’ team and a 1st Girls’ team. The school uses the Lakefield and Douro arenas for games and practices, and students who play hockey at LCS are on the ice 3-4 times a week. The Bob Armstrong Shinny Rink on campus is also available for practice and shinny games. All teams play in the CISAA, and travel to various tournaments throughout the season. The hockey rivalries in the Independent School league are intense and in some cases reach back into the 19th century. The 1st Boys' Hockey team is the 2014/15 CISAA Silver Medalists.

• Hockey: SLASH

  The largest intramural program at the school is SLASH (Senior League All-Star Hockey). Boys and girls play on one or four organized teams and teams take part in an interlocking schedule that culminates in season-ending playoffs. Students play on the Bob Armstrong Shinny Rink on campus, with some ice time at local arenas before the ice is ready on campus. 

• Nordic Skiing

  In the Late Fall Term, all three racing teams participate in dry land conditioning programs until the Christmas Break. In the New Year, the team may attend a pre-season training camp to ensure safe racing skills, team development, and skill based teams for their five CISAA races, the goal to compete for a CISAA Championship and OFSAA qualification. The school's five-kilometre racing trail, groomed and track set, is the regular training ground for the team and the scene of interschool competitions such as the nordic skiing OFSAA championships hosted twice by LCS in the last two years. In addition, there is an extensive system of groomed trails on our campus for training, as well as frequent trips to the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club.

• Rowing

  In the Fall term, students in the Learn to Row Program learn the fundamentals of rowing in various boat formations on Campus on Katchewanooka Lake. In the Spring term, the 1st Rowing team utilizes the indoor rowing facilities and training equipment at the Peterborough Rowing Club. With guidance from varsity coaches year-round, our 1st Rowing team works towards the goal of attending the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Championships in the spring. Alumnus Trevor Jones '15 is presently a member of the National Rowing team, and he placed ninth overall in the men's single sculls during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

• Rugby

  This physically demanding sport is played during spring term. There is a 1st Boys’, a Jr. Boys’, a 1st Girls’, and a Jr. Girls' team.  All teams compete in the CISAA as sevens' teams. Many of our teams' coaches are past varsity athletes, and our teams also work with many local rugby players. Alumni often return to campus to assist in clinics with all teams. The 1st Boys' Rugby team is the 2015 Silver Medalists.

• Snowboard Racing

  In the Late Fall Term, all three racing teams participate in dry land conditioning programs until the Christmas Break. In the New Year, the team attends a pre-season training camp to ensure safe racing skills, team development, and skill based teams for their five CISAA races, the goal to compete for a CISAA Championship and OFSAA qualification.

• Soccer

  Lakefield College School has three boys' teams (1st, 2nd and Jr.) and two girls' teams (1st and Jr.). Many of our teams' coaches are past varsity athletes and past university varsity coaches. The 1st Boy's Soccer team is the 2023/24 CISAA Champion, while the 1st Girls' Soccer team is the defending CISAA Champions and Gold Medalists.

• Track and Field

  The 1st Track & Field Team compete in both CISAA and public school invitational events leading to the CISAA Championship meet with the goal of qualification for OFSAA.

• Ultimate

  Ultimate Frisbee has gained tremendous popularity. Our co-ed 1st. and Jr. teams compete both in league and tournament play. In spring 2024 Lakefield College School hosted the OFSAA Ultimate Festival to great success. Alumni Iain ’11 and Mike MacKenzie ’15 recently played at the World Ultimate Championship in Australia where their Canadian team finished fifth. 

• Volleyball

  All teams (1st Boys', Jr. Boys', 1st Girls', 2nd Girls' and Jr. Girls') play in the CISAA league, hosting their home games in the McEwen Gymnasium. The teams practice at minimum three times a week. Invitational and league tournaments are also part of the season for the volleyball program. The 1st Girls' Volleyball team is the 2014/15 Gold Medalist and CISAA Champion, and the 1st Boys' team is the defending CISAA Champion 3 years in a row.
