Law Students Investigate at the Scene of a Mock Crime
Students in Ms. Hansler's Grade 12 Canadian and International Law class put their practice into action through a mock crime scene.
Armed with their notebooks and their personal protective gear, students worked in small teams to record the scene (notes, photographs and sketches), and process it for evidence. Each team dusted for fingerprints, lifted fingerprints and collected hairs and fibers. All evidence and notes were sealed until they were opened to be analyzed in class. Each team analyzed their fingerprints from the scene against two potential suspects and used microscopes to analyze and categorize their hair and fiber samples. Constable Nie from the Ontario Provincial Police assisted with the investigations.
This week, students presented their findings, evidence and hypothesis of the crime to their classmates.
