Athletics Action: Highlights from Winter Athletics at LCS!

As the winter sports season comes to a close, we reflect on the remarkable achievements and thrilling moments experienced by our dedicated athletes across various sports teams. From heart-pounding victories to hard-fought battles, our students have exemplified perseverance, skill, and sportspersonship throughout their competitions. Let's dive into the highlights of their final tournaments and games from this week.

Wednesday was a successful day for our 2nd Boys Hockey team who won their semi-final game in a thrilling overtime match against St. John's-Kilmarnock School. The team then earned a silver medal finish in the finals against Pickering College. Congratulations to the boys on a hard-fought season!

This season has brought many successes (and medals) for the 1st Snowboard Racing team. It has been great to see our snowboarders develop their skills and confidence competing in Giant Slalom, Slopestyle, and Boardercross. We are very excited to have taken 9 athletes to OFSAA and to the SBX Invitational this week.

On Wednesday, February 28, St. Andrew’s College hosted the CISAA Senior Division II Boys’ Basketball Final Four Tournament. In the semi-finals, LCS played a tough match against Crescent School and emerged victorious with a 32 to 28 win.

Wednesday afternoon was an exhilarating one for our Junior Boys basketball team. The games were filled with intense back-and-forth action, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.

In the semifinal matchups, it was a close call as Country Day School and Upper Canada College narrowly defeated St. Andrew’s College and LCS, respectively, to advance to the finals. Despite the tough losses, our players showcased remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament. Well done, team!

This week, our Senior Girls Volleyball team competed in the finals right here at Lakefield. It was an intense match, with LCS taking the lead by winning the first set. However, Country Day School staged a comeback and ultimately secured victory with a final score of 3-1.

Both teams displayed exceptional skill and sportspersonship throughout the game, making it a thrilling and memorable event for all involved. 

Yesterday, our 1st Girls’ Hockey final four unfolded at ScotiaPond in Toronto! It was a day filled with exhilarating matchups, with players showcasing their skills and determination on the ice. Although our team did not emerge victorious in the tournament, we're incredibly proud of their hard work and sportspersonship on the ice. Congratulations to all teams for their efforts and dedication!
