Local Stewardship and Spreading Holiday Cheer
Our Grade 10 students spend the year exploring Stewardship as part of their Leadership, Character, Values Program (LCV). As part of this theme, we continued a new tradition at The Grove and participated once again in the Lakefield Santa Claus Parade, which provides an opportunity to engage and connect with the local community. Planning for the parade started with our October intersession, as the Grade 10s worked together to brainstorm ideas for their participation in the parade. Students put their plan into action during our November intersession and everyone contributed through everything from design, construction, assembly, playing music, singing, dancing, or handing out treats. Each student was able to use their unique talents to help make participation in the parade possible.
The Grade 10 class was awarded first prize by the Lakefield Lions' Club for their float designs and festive spirit during the parade. Students voted to donate the prize money, $75, to the Lakefield Food Bank.
