LCS Students participate in the largest-ever University of Toronto Model UN Conference

Last weekend, six LCS students travelled to the University of Toronto to participate in the University of Toronto Model United Nations Conference (UTMUN). This was U of T's largest UTMUN conference to date, with 650 delegates from across Canada in attendance.

The UTMUN Conference is a simulation of the United Nations, where students from different schools and backgrounds can discuss and debate important global issues. It's a great experience for students as it allows them to gain a better understanding of international relations, global issues, and diplomacy. By participating in the UTMUN Conference, students can develop their public speaking, research, and critical thinking skills.

During the conference, students are given the opportunity to represent a specific country and discuss issues that are relevant to their country's interests. They also have the chance to participate in committee meetings, draft resolutions, and negotiate with other delegates. In addition to the intellectual challenges, students can also make connections with like-minded individuals, learn about different cultures, and develop a sense of empathy toward others.

Overall, participating in the UTMUN Conference is an enriching experience that can help students gain a better understanding of global issues and develop important skills that will serve them well in future academic and career pursuits.
