Opening Week at LCS

Our campus came alive this week as we welcomed 439 students from Canada and across the globe to The Grove. The excitement at Lakefield College School is palpable as we embark on another vibrant school year.

The week began with the return of our Grade 12 students for the Grad Leadership Conference, a key event that equips them with the skills, confidence, and mindset to lead our school community. Through leadership workshops, team-building activities, and a talk about leadership with guest speaker Martin Lespérance, our Grads embraced their roles as mentors and role models, setting an inspiring tone for the year ahead.

On Thursday, our Grads extended a warm welcome to both new and returning Grade 9-11 students, guiding them through a day of orientation activities aimed at ensuring a successful start to the school year. From technology introductions and co-curricular overviews to school block tours, paper house sorting, and discussions on school values, the day provided a thorough and engaging foundation for all students.

Friday continued with sessions designed to further prepare students for the year ahead. They reviewed the School Life Guide, participated in spirited Paper House games, and completed swim tests to ensure waterfront safety. The day also offered a moment of reflection on our community values, including a meaningful Chapel session led by Head of School Anne-Marie Kee.

With Opening Week now in full swing, we’re excited to see the growth, learning, and leadership that will shape this year!
