LCS Students Win 1st Place at Lakefield Santa Claus Parade
Our Grade 10 students spend the year exploring Stewardship as part of our Leadership, Character, Values Program (LCV). As part of this theme, we continued a years-long tradition at The Grove and participated in the Lakefield Santa Claus Parade this past weekend.
Participation in the parade provides an opportunity for our students to engage and connect with the local community. Planning for the parade started with our October Intersession, as our Grade 10s worked together to brainstorm ideas for their participation in the parade. Under the leadership of our Grade 10 Grade Reps (Louisa '25, Hannah '25, Ben '25, Jud '25, Audrey '25, and Jero '25), 50 students put their plan into action during grade meetings throughout November. On the day of the parade, everyone found a way to contribute to the event whether it was waving to the crowd, holding a sign, handing out candy, dancing, playing a paddle "guitar" or lip-syncing as the Elvis impersonator! Each student used their unique talents to help make participation in the parade possible.
The efforts of our Grade 10s did not go unnoticed as they were awarded first prize by the Lakefield Lions' Club for their float designs and festive spirit during the parade.
