Ms. Bemrose's Grade 12 Dance class has taken their love of dance to the next level with the creation of Studio Grove, a drop-in dance studio for the LCS student community. Our Senior dancers wanted to share their passion for dance with others and provide an opportunity for people to try new styles of dance. Thus, the idea for Studio Grove was born.
The first class, a Jazz Funk class taught by Isabelle '23, was a success and attendees left feeling energized and excited for the next class. The Studio Grove team, led by co-ordinator Lillian '23, has put together a calendar of classes for the next two weeks, featuring a variety of dance styles including Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Ballet.
Students are invited to drop in and join in the fun at Studio Grove, where everyone is welcome regardless of skill level or experience. The studio is a welcoming and inclusive space, and the students hope to continue to bring the joy of dance to others through this program.
Student-led initiatives like Studio Grove have many benefits for both the students leading the program and those participating. Student-led activities encourage leadership skills and allow students to take ownership of a project from start to finish. They also promote collaboration and teamwork, as students work together to plan and execute the program. Further, programs like Studio Grove can help build a sense of community and connection among students who share a common interest in dance.
