Fresh Air, Fun, and Wellbeing: Grade 9 Ski Day at Brimacombe
Exploring the great outdoors continues to be a cornerstone of our commitment to the holistic development of our students. On January 18, our Grade 9s embraced the winter chill for a day of skiing at Brimacombe. This annual outing serves as more than just a ski trip; it's an opportunity for our students to connect with nature, foster a sense of community, and promote both physical and mental wellbeing.
All students received an assessment of their skills and those who are new to skiing received a lesson from a trained ski instructor. It was uplifting to see experienced skiers encourage and help their friends who were new to the sport.
The positive impacts of spending time outdoors are well-documented, from stress reduction to improved mood and enhanced focus. Moreover, the mental health benefits are significant, contributing to reduced anxiety and depression while promoting overall emotional wellbeing.
This winter, our Grade 9 OE students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of winter outdoor activities such as classic skiing, Nordic skiing, skating, snowshoeing, broomball, tobogganing, winter cookouts, winter shelter building (quinzees), and ice safety.
We look forward to seeing students in all grades hit the slopes on January 25 for Ted Pope Day!
