At Lakefield College School, we’re lucky to have students from over 40 countries, each of whom brings their own cultural traditions to share with the community. We love seeing students embrace both the traditions they grew up with and traditions that are new to them! This Lunar New Year, our campus was adorned with vibrant colours and filled with the joyful spirit of the festive season.
One of the highlights of our celebration was the bubble tea-making stations, where volunteers handcrafted almost 100 cups of the beverage for the entire school. Their efforts were truly appreciated, adding a delicious touch to the festivities. Additionally, our community came together to make over 400 dumplings, a labour of love that symbolizes unity and abundance in the coming year.
Mr. Runza, embodying the spirit of the God of Fortune, shared blessings by distributing red pockets filled with New Year wishes.
Of course, no Lunar New Year celebration would be complete without fireworks, and ours were a resounding success, delighting students and staff with their brilliant colours.
As we reflect on the festivities we are grateful for opportunities to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make our community unique. As we welcome the Year of the Dragon with open hearts and joyous spirits, we look forward to continuing our journey of learning and growth together.
Wishing everyone a prosperous and joy-filled Lunar New Year from the Lakefield College School family!
