Lights, Learning, and Laughter: Shaw Festival Trip 2024

Eighteen students from Lakefield College School’s Musical Theatre co-curricular program recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Shaw Festival in Niagara, thanks to the generous support of Nancy Smith. The group experienced a dynamic range of performances, including the comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, the gripping crime drama Witness for the Prosecution, and the classic musical My Fair Lady.

But they didn't just watch these incredible shows—they immersed themselves in the art of theatre. Students participated in workshops focusing on accents and dance, where they refined their skills and gathered inspiration for their own performances. Engaging question and answer sessions with the company members also provided valuable insights into the world of professional theatre.

Beyond the stage, the students had a chance to connect with industry professionals during a dinner hosted at Nancy's home. This unique experience offered them a deeper understanding of the theatrical world and allowed them to engage with the experts in a more personal setting.

At LCS, we are committed to nurturing talent and encouraging students to pursue their passions. This trip gave our students the chance to deepen their love for the arts, gain confidence, and further develop their performance skills.

We can’t wait to see them put their new knowledge and inspiration into practice during this year’s musical comedy, Mean Girls, from November 26-29, 2024. Join us in celebrating their journey and supporting their dedication to the performing arts!
