In January 2024, the LCS Entrepreneurship Club successfully launched their company,
Goodie Bag.
Goodie Bag offers a mouthwatering selection of sweet treats from various Asian cultures, intentionally curated to help our students feel a little closer to home. But
Goodie Bag is more than just a snack shop—it's about community spirit. Proceeds from every sale go towards supporting the New Canadians Centre of Peterborough, embodying our school's values of service and inclusive, caring community.
This week, the members of
Goodie Bag had their final shareholder meeting in the A.W. Mackenzie Chapel where they discussed the company’s progress and presented their
final report.
President of the student-run company, Titus ’25 wrote:
Goodie Bag specializes in selling international candies. We wanted to make the international student body at Lakefield feel at home by providing candies from their home countries. With an initial investment of $300, we bought our first stock. We assembled the candies into bags and sold them for $6 each, with a cost of $3.50 per bag. Our products were well received by students and staff. We sold once a week, consistently selling out our entire stock. By the end of the company on May 27, 2024, we had sold over 400 bags, generating $1263.00 in revenue, a net profit of $468.00, and $768.35 in overall net profit plus the starting capital. Our company was successful in repaying the shareholders, earning $468.00 more than the starting capital. Goodie Bag had a 37% gross profit margin.
I am happy to announce that all the financial gains will be donated to the New Canadian Center to support many of their initiatives toward immigrants.
At their final shareholders presentation, club members shared their experiences and were awarded Junior Achievement certificates in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
