Regatta Day 2024: A Celebration of Community and Tradition

On May 25, over 1,200 members of our community were present for a day filled with excitement, connection, and celebration. With four major events—our Trustees Meeting, Regatta Day, Home to The Grove, and the grand opening of our newly renovated Ryder House—it was truly a day to remember.

Regatta Day, our cherished annual reunion, brought together alumni, students, families, and friends to celebrate the arrival of spring, the joys of being outdoors, and our stunning waterfront campus. The event featured a full schedule of activities designed for attendees of all ages.

Under mostly sunny skies, with only a few moments of rain and clouds, the community's spirit shone brightly. Our community enjoyed a full afternoon of classic Lakefield activities, including a lively BBQ lunch, music performances by Irish Millie (Millie Shadgett ’24) and the Beau Dixon Band, and thrilling sailing and canoe races.

The adventure challenge tested participants' skills and teamwork, while the Strawberry Tea offered a sweet break with scones and strawberries.

Children and adults alike had a blast with the bouncy castle and waterslide, and everyone savoured ice cream cones as the temperatures rose throughout the afternoon. The day also included a staff/student/alumni soccer game, adding to the friendly competition and camaraderie.

One of the highlights of the day was the grand opening of Ryder House. The newly renovated space was unveiled to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing our ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces for our students.

As we gathered on this special day, we were reminded of the enduring power of community. Despite brief weather interruptions, everyone persevered, staying outdoors to enjoy all the events and festivities. It was a day that encapsulated the spirit of Lakefield College School—celebrating community, resilience, and the simple joys of spending time together at our waterfront.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made Regatta Day 2024 an unforgettable celebration. We look forward to many more years of this beloved tradition.
