Soaring to New Heights: LCS Drone Program Takes Flight
Lakefield College School launched its new drone program in April 2023, thanks to the generous support of Alexandre Parent '15. The Drone Program began in late April 2023 with ground school training to ensure students are familiar with Transport Canada's knowledge requirements.

Millie ’24 Receives 2nd Nomination For Canadian Folk Music Award
Millie ’24 and her band, “The Receivers” were nominated for the Young Performer of the Year award at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards. Millie’s second nomination for the award is a testament to her talent and skill level in the folk music industry.

LCS Hosts 2023 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships
On February 23 and 24, we co-hosted the 2023 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships. Over 700 student-athletes from across Ontario came together to compete in this thrilling event.

LCS Students Participate in the Largest-Ever University of Toronto Model UN Conference
Six LCS students travelled to the University of Toronto to participate in the University of Toronto Model United Nations Conference (UTMUN). This was U of T's largest UTMUN conference to date, with 650 delegates from across Canada in attendance.

Our annual Winter Carnival was once again a huge success, with students, staff, and faculty coming together to enjoy many classic Canadian wintertime festivities and activities.

6th Annual Chinese Food and Culture Festival
On January 21, 2023, we celebrated our 6th annual Chinese Food and Culture Festival. Throughout the day, over 60 people, including staff, Ms. Kee, students, their extended families and 200 students participated in dumpling-making sessions, where they made over 500 handmade dumplings.

Students shared their voices and gave back to the community in recognition of Bell Let's Talk Day and raising awareness about Canada's mental health.

Our Winter Concert featured over 60 instrumentalists and vocalists with outstanding performances to celebrate the season.

Semi Formal 2022
Grade 12 students worked hard to transform the McEwen Gym into a winter wonderland for Winter Semi-Formal. Our student body enjoyed an evening of dancing, photos, and student-designed awards.

Dalglish Art Award Recipient: Max Wenborne ’23
Max Wenborne ’23 was nominated as this year’s Peter Dalglish Art Award recipient for 2023. The purpose of the Peter Dalglish Art Award is to inspire, encourage and recognize artistic talent at Lakefield College School by promoting promising young artists and their future contributions to art in Canada and beyond.

Exploring New Perspectives at the Munk Debate
The LCS Debating Club travelled to Toronto to attend the Munk Debate on Mainstream Media at Roy Thomson Hall. The topic of the debate surrounded trust in mainstream media with two debaters (Douglas Murray and Matt Taibbi) arguing in favour of trusting the news and two debaters (Malcolm Gladwell and Michelle Goldberg) arguing against having faith that outlets conduct unbiased reporting.

On Sunday, November 27, Cole ’23, Hayden ‘23, Griffin ‘23, Nathan ‘24, Selina ‘24, and Willis ‘25 travelled to Whitby, Ontario, to compete in the annual DECA Regionals Competition.

Movember 2022
LCS has participated in the Movember campaign since 2010 with two key goals: to raise money for the Movember campaign and to raise awareness about men’s physical and mental wellbeing. This year, our students participated in the Movember Polar Dip, they sold moustache-printed socks and donated the proceeds to Movember, and they participated in a Clean Casuals day in support of the Movember campaign.

The Lakefield College School Dance Company welcomed over 750 members of The Grove community—parents, friends, family, faculty, staff, and students—to The Bryan Jones Theatre for the ENCORE! Dance Showcase.

LCS Students Win 1st Place at Lakefield Santa Claus Parade
On a snowy Sunday, our Grade 10 students participated in the annual Lakefield Santa Claus Parade. Approximately 40 students designed, decorated, and rehearsed for the event and they braved the cold elements to sing, dance, play instruments, and spread seasonal joy to the many people who drove by.

Lakefield College School’s 1st Boys’ Volleyball Team Crowned 2022 CISAA Champions
Our 1st Boys’ Volleyball team has worked hard this season to finesse their skills and fight to the top of the ranks, earning a spot in the semifinals, and ultimately being crowned the 2022 CISAA Volleyball Champions!

Remembrance Day 2022
On November 8 and 9, we held our Remembrance Day ceremony, gathering as a community in The Bryan Jones Theatre. Students across all grades participated in the creation of a moving Remembrance Day service, a cross-curricular collaborative project, which featured Grade 11/12 Music, Grade 12 Dance, the Lorelei Consort, String Ensemble, and Rock Choir.

LCS Hosts The 2022 CISAA Cross Country Championship
On October 27, 2022, Lakefield College School welcomed over 1100 students from over 200 Ontario schools to compete in the 2022 CISAA Cross Country Running Championships.

LCS Students Take on The International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition
Morgan ’24, Fiona ’24, and Hannah ’25 travelled to the U.S. to compete in the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition. This incredible experience provided our students with the opportunity to debate alongside students from all over the world, spark new friendships, foster life skills, and establish a global network.

Our 1st Sailing Team participated in their first Regatta in three years! We were thrilled to welcome student-athletes from Brockville Collegiate Institute and Rosseau Lake College for an afternoon of sailing.

Official Opening of Ross House and Parent House
On October 1, 2022, Lakefield College School (LCS) celebrated the official opening of its newest student residences, Ross House and Parent House. The new houses are named in honour of the Ross Family and Parent Family in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the LCS community and the leadership-level philanthropic support that made this important project possible.

The Grad Class of 2023 started the school year off with an impressive mix of effort, grit, determination and teamwork while exploring the beautiful wilderness of Ontario on the Algonquin Expedition.

Flourish Fiesta
While our returning students arrived on campus to be greeted by our Grads, our new students participated in the third annual Flourish Fiesta— an event focussed on positive psychology—at our waterfront.
