Learning English Through the Outdoors | Waterfront Fun
This week, we welcomed our English as a second language (ESL) students to campus for our Learning English Through the Outdoors course. Since their arrival, the group has been busy immersing themselves in nature and course materials.
As they work to improve their English language skills, our students have been improving their wilderness and outdoors skills. This week, they learned how to pitch tents, which they camped overnight in, on campus! Students have also been experiencing the great Canadian wilderness as they practice canoeing around Lake Katchewanooka and prepare for their upcoming camping trips in local forests.
In addition to developing their English skills and learning about the outdoors, we have seen our students develop friendships with each other. Through teambuilding activities, like a blanket toss and waterfront relay, it’s easy to see the sense of community that is already emerging in this group.
We can’t wait to see what the next few weeks have in store for our Learning English Through the Outdoors students!
