Katchewanooka Rod: A Celebration of Tradition, Teamwork, and Winter Spirit
On Friday, February 7, our LCS community gathered for the annual Katchewanooka Rod (K-Rod), a cherished tradition inspired by the Iditarod. This unique event brings students together in a test of endurance, teamwork, and school spirit, as teams race through the snow in a series of events, including slalom, long-distance, and sprint races.
Each team, consisting of one musher and six student pullers, must work together to navigate the course and cross the finish line as a unit. The event is more than just a race—it is a celebration of resilience, camaraderie, and the joy of the winter season.
Beyond the competition, K-Rod is a night filled with energy and excitement. Live music sets the tone, and a fireworks display marks the grand finale, making it a truly unforgettable experience. More than just a fun winter event, K-Rod embodies the spirit of the LCS community, fostering teamwork and shared memories that last well beyond the finish line.
