Millie Yates ’13

Fashion Designer

Millie Yates ’13 is a Canadian womenswear designer and master’s student at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Millie completed her bachelor of design at Toronto Metropolitan University in the fashion design program, leading her to a diverse range of experiences in bespoke menswear, cut and sew knitwear design, and technical design. An internship at Abercrombie and Fitch launched Millie’s career in the mass-market fashion industry. She spent nearly seven years at Canadian womenswear brands Garage and Dynamite, where she last held the role of Senior Designer of Fleece and Activewear. A personal dream of completing her master’s degree has led Millie back to TMU, where she is finalizing her research on the impact of 3D virtual prototyping tools on fashion design practice. In addition to her research, she teaches 3D fashion design program CLO3D to young professionals and works as a research assistant for wearable technology design.
