Career Day is an annual tradition at The Grove providing students with an opportunity to make a connection between their academic interests and future professional endeavors. In addition to this learning opportunity, Career Day gives students, alumni, parents and friends the occasion to develop meaningful connections for the future.

Rachel Booth

UX Designer / Video Game Development

I've always loved technology and gaming, and in high school, I realized that my ultimate goal was to become a game designer. This led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in game development, and after graduating, I began searching for my dream job. After a year with few prospects, I went back to school to earn a Master of Information in User Experience (UX) design. While my initial goal was to diversify into research and design for apps and websites, through my studies, I discovered a growing need for UX designers in the gaming industry.

Upon graduating and after taking on some odd jobs in ‘serious games’ research and VR healthcare, I applied for a postgraduate internship at Ubisoft. Unfortunately, this internship was canceled due to COVID, so taking a chance, I applied for a full-time position instead and was fortunate to secure it. Now, I am still working at Ubisoft as a UX designer on Rainbow 6 Siege- using my game design and UX background to create new game mechanics that are impactful and engaging for players.
