This February, we celebrate Black History Month in Canada, recognizing and honoring the rich history, culture, and achievements of Black communities. 🖤 Last week in Chapel, Aiden ’25 shared one way our community is embracing this important time. Every Monday, students and staff are invited to swap out their usual white collared shirts for black or dark-coloured shirts as a symbol of unity, recognition, and respect.
Additionally, students in our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) club sold Recognize & Embrace pins in support of the BLM Nogojiwanong BIPOC Survival Fund.
“The colour black signifies resilience, strength, and unity within the Black community. This small but meaningful change in our usual attire is a symbol of unity, recognition, and respect. It's an opportunity for each of us to reflect on the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead, as we continue to learn, grow, and make progress as a community.” — Aiden ’25
Each week in Chapel, our community has been coming together for moments of learning and celebration as our students share stories, songs, and reflections on the contributions of Black historical figures, artists, and athletes.
