LCS Students Excel at Trent University’s Inaugural Ethics Bowl
On February 8, 25 LCS students, including members of the Debate Team and one of our TALK Club leaders, participated in the inaugural Ethics Bowl at Trent University, a unique public speaking competition that emphasizes collaborative discussion over traditional debate.
Our four teams of 6-7 students prepared to discuss eight complex case studies, presenting their perspectives on moral dilemmas and responding to questions from judges and opposing teams. They secured 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place—an impressive achievement, especially for many first-time competitors.
Students tackled thought-provoking topics, ranging from whether children have a duty of care to their parents to the impact of memes and satire. Beyond rankings, the event helped them build confidence, sharpen critical thinking, and engage in meaningful discourse.
Congratulations to all participants—you represented our school with excellence!
