Lakefield College School Hosts 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship
This week, Lakefield College School buzzed with excitement as we co-hosted the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships. It was an exhilarating event that brought together over 600 talented student-athletes from across Ontario, showcasing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines our school.
Despite unseasonably warm temperatures, our Nordic and Outdoors Every Day teams worked tirelessly to prepare the trails, ensuring that they were in top condition for the competition. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event – from our faculty and staff to our students and volunteers. Your hard work and commitment truly made a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.
In the words of our Nordic Ski Coach Todd Harris, "We are honoured to have hosted the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships. Our school has a longstanding tradition of excellence in winter sports, and it was a privilege to welcome the best high school Nordic skiers from across Ontario to our campus for the second year in a row! We thank everyone involved in bringing OFSAA Nordic to fruition."
A special congratulations is also in order for our 25 LCS skiers who represented our school with skill and sportsmanship. Skye ’26, Maddie ’27, Elaine ’27, Susie ’27, Zoe ’27, Kevin ’26, Neil ’26, Frank ’27, Joseph ’27, Hayden ’26, Marcus ’26, Colson ’26, Gabe ’25, Graeme ’25, Yukun ’26, Ben ’25, Nikita ’25, Isaad ’24, Dale ’26, Leo ’26, Louisa ’25, Grace ’25, Lauren ’25, Livi ’25, and Morgan ’24, each of you did an outstanding job showcasing the strength of our Nordic Ski program at LCS.
Beyond the thrill of competition, events like these provide invaluable opportunities for our students to connect with peers from other schools, showcasing the warmth and hospitality that defines our Lakefield community. We also extend our appreciation to local retailers Wild Rock Outfitters, Rundle Nordic, Lakefield Home Hardware, and Kingdon Timber Mart for their generous support leading up to the championships.
As we reflect on the success of the 2024 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championships, we are reminded of the incredible spirit and determination that define our school.
