Students Lead Mental Health Awareness for Bell Let’s Talk Day
LCS students came together to raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations around mental health in recognition of Bell Let’s Talk Day. Leading the charge were our Wellbeing Centre Seniors-In-Charge (SICs) Avery ’25, Bridget ’25, Mia ’25, and Bokyung ’25, who delivered presentations and organized activities to promote mental health education, self-care strategies, and community engagement.
The week began with two powerful Chapel presentations. On Thursday, January 16, the SICs educated our community about the importance of Bell Let’s Talk Day and its mission to break the stigma around mental health. On January 21, they followed up with actionable steps for prioritizing mental health, offering strategies to help students maintain balance and build resilience.
On Wednesday, the group organized an event outside the Student Life Centre where students wrote positive messages about their own mental health practices and personal reflections on what mental health means to them. These messages, written on speech bubbles, symbolized the importance of open dialogue and awareness. The event also featured treats and bracelets to encourage further engagement.
Throughout the week, Ms. Maher contributed to the initiative by curating a thoughtful display of books on mental health in the Learning Commons. The display included resources for students to explore, alongside a relaxing colouring station featuring Indigenous mandalas.
Thank you Avery ’25, Bridget ’25, Mia ’25, and Bokyung ’25. Your leadership and the involvement of the LCS community highlighted the importance of education, awareness, and collective action when it comes to mental health. Together, you reminded us that change starts with conversation, and every effort—big or small—can make a difference.
