LCS Nordic Skiers Shine at Kawartha Invitational

Earlier this month, our Nordic Ski team took to the trails at Kawartha Nordic Ski Club for the Kawartha Invitational, marking their second race of the season. Competing against strong regional competition, our athletes showcased their growing skill, resilience, and determination—many achieving personal bests and impressive results.

The event featured both individual distance races and team sprint relays, with distances ranging from 3 km for novice skiers to 7 km for senior athletes. With each race, our team demonstrated significant improvement since their season opener in December in Haliburton, with several novice skiers (first year of competition) opting to challenge themselves and race in their age categories.

Notable Performances:
🏅 Ruby ’26 – 1st place, Novice Women
🥈 Hilary ’28 – 2nd place, Novice Women
🏅 Senior Boys Team Sprint – 2nd place CISAA (Yukun ’25 , Tate ’26, Mason ’26, August ’27)
🥉 Kieran ’28 – 3rd place, Junior Men
🥉 Kaya ’28 – 3rd place, Novice Men
🏅 Majo ’27 – 4th place, Novice Women
🏅 Joshua ’26 – 4th place, Novice Men
🏅 August ’27 – 6th place, Senior Men
🏅 Carl ’28 – 6th place, Novice Men
🏅 Jamie ’28 – 7th place, Novice Men
🏅 Maddie ’27 – 7th place, Junior Women
🏅 Nikhil ’28 – 8th place, Novice Men
🏅 Eric ’28 – 9th place, Novice Men
🏅 Noah ’28 – 10th place, Novice Men

Beyond the podium finishes, the event was an opportunity for our skiers to challenge themselves, push their limits, and experience the camaraderie that makes Nordic skiing such a rewarding sport. These races are not just about competition but about building endurance, resilience, and a love for winter sport—values that will serve our athletes well both on and off the trails.
