We are so privileged to be part of the extended LCS community and be in a position to change so many young students in an impactful and meaningful way. It’s important to broaden the reach of our school as the need for tuition assistance becomes more acute. It’s only by having a real cross-section of students on campus that makes us who we are. Without this, you lose the benefit of the true Lakefield experience.  ~ TOM STEVENSON ’78, LCS Fundraising Committee Chair

Your decision to support tuition assistance enriches the fabric of our entire community and profoundly impacts the lives of young people who otherwise would not receive a Lakefield education.

We aspire to increase our tuition assistance resources so that a growing number of students can have the opportunity to live and learn at Lakefield. We believe that our community is enriched by the economical and cultural breadth of backgrounds brought by students from all walks of life. As we build on our vision for expanded tuition assistance, we have been partnering with mission-aligned organizations to welcome more promising students from underrepresented backgrounds to LCS.

  • Endowed Fund and Bursaries

Thanks to the generosity of the Lakefield community, our endowment stands at over $41.7M. With the third-largest endowment among Canadian boarding schools, Lakefield strives to provide enriching opportunities for future generations. In addition to funding our tuition assistance program, Lakefield’s endowment supports key initiatives, such as the Peter Dalglish Art Award, Guest, Irving and Ondaatje Expeditions, and our Leadership, Character and Values program, and more. These programs ensure students with varied skills and interests are supported in their endeavours to learn and grow at Lakefield.
  • Expendable Bursaries

In contrast to a gift made towards an endowed bursary, an expendable bursary is one in which the entire gift is expended upon receipt of the gift, benefiting LCS students immediately.
  • Combined Bursaries

A combined bursary includes an endowed and expendable gift.  A portion of the gift is disbursed immediately, another portion endowed in perpetuity.
Looking back on my years at Lakefield, I feel more and more grateful for the friendships, opportunities, and amazing academic experiences that have been made possible because of you.  ~ 2021/22 Bursary Recipient
